Reasons I don't want to do that:
1. I will lose all faith (see: what I have left) in the justice system as I inevitably see money and resources going into finding out who we are to prosecute us for some sort of rights or privacy violations.
2. I will have to see child porn
3. I will lose all faith (see: what I have left) in the justice system as I watch people I have "exposed" walk or receive super light sentences on technicalities or botched investigations.
4. I will lose all faith (see: what I have left) in the enforcement field as I realize that they with massive budgets only allocated X% to such activities and how much manpower is required to find one person, let alone prosecute them.
5. I have a lot of other stuff going on.
6. More reasons I cant think of off the top of my head.
Thats not to say I dont understand where you are coming from. Maybe see if the local police department has a division for cyber-crimes and see what uit would take to get involved, either professionally or on a volunteer basis. That would actually be a really cool article if you documented what you did and what it takes. Im sure many people (myself included) would be very interested in that.

they already have to catch a predator, i think it is kind of a mean thing to do, baiting men like they are.... how many of these guys would actually be able to convince a girl to meet up with them in real life anyways? and i agree with lost, just no.

If you were to go after people who had "Child porn" you would be arresting a bunch of jr high/high school kids.(Not only jr high/high shcool kids. But as I'm only 20, I knew of friends that were sending these photos.(But I did not send NOR receive any of these.) I would wager that there are a TON of teenagers that would fall into this.) There was a case not to long ago that some high school kids were sending each other nude photos of themselves. Even though the people who were receiving the images were under the age of 18, they were still charged with having child pornography.
...And the other half of the people would be 4chaners.

Yeah there are many reasons not to do this. If I remember correctly cyberarmy had a project like this going for a while. Mostly reporting, but there were some people that were trying to just track down kiddy porn sites and take them offline. Problem is neither works all that well. No matter what the same material just gets shifted over to another server, and in the end in a best case scenario you only have one conviction (the pedo responsible for the site). Sounds like justice, but that still leaves the clientele and worst of all the pervs responsible for making the material (the actual rapists) loose to do (or distribute) whatever. Plus as flyingpengwin said there's definitely a huge gray area in the whole matter. In short, better leave this one to the professionals.

I find it interesting everytime this is brought up. Seriously though, if parents educate their kids enough and are capable enough to block sites via the browser that their kids use and use useful other 3rd party programs, then why is this an issue anymore?
It doesn't take a genius to figure it out..

Parents think this would never happen to their kid. Stupid parents. Baiting men would never think that they would get caught. Stupid Baiting Men. We live in a stupid world.

I think using a gun is far more effective. Quote: 2. I will have to see child porn
That is reason enough not to do it.
